Dao Yin practice is an effective facilitator for internal energy movement.
The practice encourages the rotation of the Dan Tien and the expansion of the three fires, driving energy forward. First through the Ming Fire located at the Ming Men (lower spine) then the Bladder Fire (Perineum) and Heart Fire.
Awakening the Dragon, which is the first part of four movements, is designed to manipulate the spine. ‘Dragon’ in Daoist practices is generally means related to the spine, therefore activating the congenital meridians located deep within the spinal column and the centre line of the body.
The physical action of twisting and pulling within the exercises sparks up the fires, stimulating a reaction through the rest of the body.
Performing Dao Yin you must try to have the feeling of being internally and evenly connected from hand to foot, while creating a relaxed and full stretch within the movement. This will aid in opening the joints and help align the body. Yi (mind intention) is projected right out in front of your thrusting hand in time with the breath, which combined all together will facilitate the directional force of the energy flow.
The Dao Yin exercises will increase the health of the spine which will have a positive effect on all your organs and immune system by purging out pathogens and stagnate Qi.
